The Coast & Cove Challenge is organised by The Lions Club of Looe. Each participant enters into the Coast & Cove Challenge freely, and agrees to abide by these Terms & Conditions of Entry and any instructions given to you by the organisers, officials and marshals, before, during or after the event. Where a team includes members younger than 18 years, there should be sufficient adults team members taking into account the number and age of the young team members.
By entering you acknowledge that the Coast & Cove Challenge is a fundraising event in which The Lions Club of Looe have agreed to pass all monies raised to the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust (registered charity number 1133295). You agree to pay the relevant entry fee, i.e. £25 per person for the Complete Challenge, £15 per person for the One Day Challenge (either Saturday or Sunday) or £10 per family group for Family Challenge on the Sunday morning Looe – Polperro walk (and back if you wish).
You also agree to pay all funds raised by your team to The Lions Club of Looe by 31st July 2018.
Each participant is responsible for ensuring that they are fit enough to undertake the Coast & Cove Challenge, whichever option you choose. We strongly advise you to consult your doctor before undertaking any exercise or training programme, or before participating in the event.
4. On the day
In starting the Coast & Cove Challenge, whichever option you choose, you do so entirely through your own choice and at your own risk. You will be responsible for bringing your own food and sufficient drink throughout the event. You must dress suitably with a good pair of walking boots/trainers. We recommend a cap for warm weather and a beanie type hat for cold/windy weather. Please be aware that the weather can change quickly on the Cornish Coast.
You must register your team between 7 – 7.45am on the day, at the Challenge Headquarters, which is The Millpool Centre, alongside the Millpool Car Park in West Looe.
The Complete Challenge/One Day Challenge starts and finishes in the Car Park at the Millpool Centre. The Start time is 8am on the Saturday and Sunday. The finish time should be between 4pm – 6pm.
The Family Challenge also starts at the Millpool Centre at 8am on the Sunday and finishes either at Polperro at approx. 10 – 10.30am or back at the Millpool Centre at approx. 1pm.
Marshals will check off each team at the halfway points (Rame Head on Saturday, Polruan on Sunday) for the Complete Challenge/One Day Challenge and back at the Millpool Centre upon finishing. Marshals will check off each team entering the Family Challenge at Polperro or back at The Millpool Centre).
Water bowsers will be available at Rame Head on Saturday and Polruan on Sunday so that water bottles can be topped up at the half way points of the Complete Challenge/One Day Challenge.
Each team must have at least two mobile phones in case of emergencies.
Marshalls will be available at various points to provide assistance. If any marshal believes that a participant’s safety would be compromised by their continued participation, they reserve the right to ask that person (or persons) to stop and pull out of the event. You will be expected to respect and accept the marshall’s decision. If you do not, and continue in the event, you will no longer be treated as an official entrant of the Coast & Cove Challenge.
On 16th June overnight accommodation is your responsibility. We have made arrangements for free camping at West Wayland Caravan and Touring Park, with a barbecue provided, but you will be responsible for providing your own camping equipment.
